Project 365–Day 45

We spent the afternoon and evening at my parents house today.  My Mom always puts together a tea in the evening for us, so nice!

Today we set up the crib for Malachi!  First we took down Micah’s crib, then set up Malachi’s in the same spot.  Now we have 3 little ones in both bedrooms!  (Although to be honest, Malachi has only slept in here during the day.  I like to have him in the basinet in our room during the night.)  :-)

Project 365–Day 43

I’m fudging a little here.  I missed day 43 so here is a picture of Elijah with his Valentine’s card from us.  He LOVED this card and must have read it a dozen times at least and every time he read it he broke out in this huge grin!  So very cute!  He told me “I love Valentine’s Day because you get cards that make your heart happy!”

The kids spent some time making Valentines on Valentine’s Day.  They had a good time coloring them and cutting them out!

Project 365–Day 41

Every week on Wednesday we have Awana in the evenings.  Earlier in the day I always get out the kids vests and awana bags and have the kids get their books and Bibles to put in them so that everything is ready when it’s time to go.  We also made valentines for the kids to hand out and put them in white sacks that the kids decorated.  Here everything is ready for our evening fun!

Micah had so much fun playing with his new blocks from his birthday!  He was very creative and built all these color coded towers!

Micah’s Birthday

We celebrated Micah’s birthday this past week!  We did an evening party, serving dinner, then cake and ice cream, and finally opening presents.  We limited guests to family only, so it was a small party but Micah had a wonderful time!

As usual we celebrated as a family first thing in the morning.  Micah enjoyed opening his gifts from us and playing with his siblings.

Later on in the day I made the cupcakes and dinner.  I tried to keep things really simple and easy so I just put truck pictures on sticks and stuck them into the cupcakes.  I made my homemade chilli and a green salad and my mom brought french bread.  It was all really good and we had hardly anything left!

Micah had a hard time blowing out his candles, probably because there was no one available to hold him up so he could be high enough!  He did eventually get them out, with a little help from some cousins!

For each of my kids my parents buy them a trike, and this was the year for Micah to get one!  He had so much fun opening the HUGE present!

Project 365–Day 39

For a special treat I decided to serve banana splits for dinner one night!  It was a very special treat and the kids LOVED it!!!

Project 365–Day 38

I know this is supposed to be a photo per day but I took a couple shots that I just loved and had to share.  It was another nice day and the kids wanted to play out front so we moved all the cars off the driveway, got out the bikes, and let the kids ride around.  They had a blast!!!

Project 365–Day 37

This year in school Emmy has been learning how to read a clock.  I had a terrible time learning to read clocks and she is following in her mother’s footsteps…  I made her the clock by her side with color coded hands to help her picture and remember how it all works together.  (And I’m not sure why there’s an empty cookie dough container on the floor!)  :-)

Project 365–Day 36

For Mark’s birthday he was given this “Impossible” puzzle.  Instead of traditional pieces the border was just the black section with a flat edge on each side and the inside pieces were each individual wings of the butterflies.  Mark and I worked on it for several evenings, we enjoy doing puzzles together in the wintertime.

Project 365–Day 35

For Christmas we bought all the kids a Wii.  Elijah and Emmy have LOVED it, and the other kids enjoy watching them play.  We allow them 1/2 hour per day to play, after school is done.  It makes a great motivator for the kids to get things done!

Puzzle Time!  My kids have never done puzzles much, but all of a sudden all the kids are loving them!  Josiah pulled this one out all on his own, and Emmy came over to help him.  They finished it in record time!

More Hungry Caterpillars!  Micah has enjoyed these the most of all the kids, we even took them to church to keep him occupied during the sermon.  (His hands are dirty from playing outside again.)

Project 365–Day 32

Can you tell it was sunny this day?  :-)  This was a beautiful day so I let all the kids play outside, even though our backyard is all mud so it is always messy in the winter…  Jeremiah and Micah had a blast, they play so well together!

Project 365–Day 31

One of my jobs to keep our business going is to clean the shop, office, and bathroom.  I try to get over there a few times a month to get it done.  This time Malachi was a bit fussy so I had the kids take turns pushing him around the shop while I tried to speed clean.  :-)

Project 365–Day 30

The kids have quite a few chores, not because I am not capable of doing them (it’s actually faster if I do it all), but because I want my kids to be well-equipped to handle life when they are all grown up.  Today’s picture is of Emmy sorting laundry first thing in the morning.  This is one of the favorite chores of the kids because if you find something (like money) in a pocket, you get to keep it!

Project 365–Day 29

I made “Button snakes” for Jeremiah and Micah to do.  It was a very simple craft that I found online.  They called them hungry caterpillars and had so much fun using them!  It kept them occupied for over 2 hours!  They loved “feeding” their caterpillars!  Even the older kids wanted to get in on the action and were jealous that I didn’t make them some!

Project 365–Day 28

All the kids have what we call kitchen chores.  We change them out once a year, in January.  Josiah’s chore currently is to wash off all the kitchen chairs and booster seats.  I thought I would get a picture of him finishing up his chore.  All the kids do such a good job of their chores, I’m really happy with how well they have learned to do their jobs!

My mom comes over once or twice a month, this was her day to come.  She spent some time playing checkers with Elijah.  He had a wonderful time!

Project 365–Day 26

We got a major snowstorm, over 2” of snow and very cold.  When we opened the front door the screen door was covered in condensation.  Elijah took the opportunity presented by such a marvelous drawing surface and drew his name on the window!  :-)

Mark is such a sweet husband, he brings me flowers on a regular basis, especially when I’m feeling down!  He brought me these beautiful ones!  Yellow is one of my favorite colors, it’s so bright and cheerful!

We went to a friends Birthday party, it was a book themed party, so cool!  The kids had a great time and so enjoyed the time spent with other kids!  Here they are waiting in line to do a pin the caterpillar on the leaf game (pin the tail on the donkey type).
