You may remember that we purchased two turtles for Elijah for his birthday. Well, we have only one now. :-( On Sunday we had the turtles out of the tank and were letting them run around the family room. Some of the kids decided to play out back ... and left the back door open. Sam, the smaller turtle, saw the opportunity and escaped. We spent over two hours looking for him but were never able to find him. Elijah was so sad, he cried himself to sleep. :-( We are all so glad that we still have one turtle left, Missy. Here she is basking in her tank, all alone.

Frogs
Once a week we clean the frog cage, and while it's being cleaned the kids have fun holding the frogs and watching them jump around the living room. They all have to take turns since we only have 2. Here, Josiah is admiring Mrs. Jumper, who was enjoying all the attention and sitting perfectly still for my picture...
Here Elijah gets a turn. He had to take a break from cleaning to hold the frogs, since they are his pets it's his job to clean the cage. The frogs have been a good pet for us so far, they are easy to care for and don't require much attention or maintenance and they are fun to have around. :-)

Mrs. Jumper
Well, we decided to break down and buy another frog to keep Mr. Jumper company...Elijah named her Mrs. Jumper. Whether she actually is a Mrs. is up for debate... They seem to get along well and don't fight. Mr. Jumper actually does seem happier with a companion. :-) If we take good care of them they could live 10 - 12 years, till Elijah is 16 - 18! Wow!

Our First Pet!
On Saturday we went to the pet store and let Elijah pick out his very first pet, a frog! It is a fire bellied toad and very cute! Elijah named him "Mr. Jumper." (Actually Elijah had made several lists of names that he liked before he got his frog and then picked one from his list after he got the frog, so cute!) We are all enjoying "Mr. Jumper", and are thinking that we might get him a little friend so he won't be lonely. :-)
