Project 365–Day 30

The kids have quite a few chores, not because I am not capable of doing them (it’s actually faster if I do it all), but because I want my kids to be well-equipped to handle life when they are all grown up.  Today’s picture is of Emmy sorting laundry first thing in the morning.  This is one of the favorite chores of the kids because if you find something (like money) in a pocket, you get to keep it!

Project 365–Day 29

I made “Button snakes” for Jeremiah and Micah to do.  It was a very simple craft that I found online.  They called them hungry caterpillars and had so much fun using them!  It kept them occupied for over 2 hours!  They loved “feeding” their caterpillars!  Even the older kids wanted to get in on the action and were jealous that I didn’t make them some!

Project 365–Day 28

All the kids have what we call kitchen chores.  We change them out once a year, in January.  Josiah’s chore currently is to wash off all the kitchen chairs and booster seats.  I thought I would get a picture of him finishing up his chore.  All the kids do such a good job of their chores, I’m really happy with how well they have learned to do their jobs!

Project 365–Day 27

My mom comes over once or twice a month, this was her day to come.  She spent some time playing checkers with Elijah.  He had a wonderful time!

Project 365–Day 26

We got a major snowstorm, over 2” of snow and very cold.  When we opened the front door the screen door was covered in condensation.  Elijah took the opportunity presented by such a marvelous drawing surface and drew his name on the window!  :-)

Project 365–Day 25

Mark is such a sweet husband, he brings me flowers on a regular basis, especially when I’m feeling down!  He brought me these beautiful ones!  Yellow is one of my favorite colors, it’s so bright and cheerful!

Project 365–Day24

We went to a friends Birthday party, it was a book themed party, so cool!  The kids had a great time and so enjoyed the time spent with other kids!  Here they are waiting in line to do a pin the caterpillar on the leaf game (pin the tail on the donkey type).

Project 365–Day23

Here is the completed shelves.  The far left section is Micah’s, followed by Malachi’s, and then Emmy’s.  The very top shelf is for “save” type stuff, like baby books, first outfits, cards, et.  From there down the next two shelves are for their individual toys.  Since sorting out the toys for each individual kid I have found that the fights between the kids have been nearly completely eliminated.  Each kids then has a section for hanging clothes and a spot for their shoes and other clothes as well.  I love how this setup works, it is so perfect for our family!

Project 365–Day 22

I took the opportunity while the kids were gone to get some painting done.  Mark built these shelves in Emmy’s closet about 2 months ago and I have been slowly finishing them up.  I painted each section a different color in an effort to color code the kids.  Each color therefore is a different kids shelves.  I will show you all the completed closet filled with stuff tomorrow.  (For anyone wondering, the white shelf is the original shelf in the closet, we left it that way so that if we ever happened to move we could just take out the extra shelves.)

Project 365–Day 21

The kids got to spend a few days at Grandma and Grandpa’s.  I had lunch with everyone at Mom’s before leaving them and heading home.  The kids were so excited, they love to stay with Grandma and Grandpa!
